Live Art

Mat first performed in a Live Art show at London’s ICA in 1994. “RIOT!” was inspiring to him and he pursued that mode of performance, the ultimate in raw direct performed reactions to the World. Since then he’s developed his voice in this medium, like so many Live Artists making his body the actual canvas of much of the work, and he’s produced several pieces of work, ranging from blisteringly angry to absurdly funny, from socially disruptive to engagingly charming. Home Live Art has been a place Mat has made some of his best work, and The London Live Art Development Agency have been very supportive in Mat"s development and have helped document much of his work and shows over the years, finally funding and producing a DVD retrospective of his work in the last 10 years for their series, “Unbound”, which will be available imminently, featuring excerpts from “Talidoma Vale Tudo”, “Everything you wanted to know about access in the City but were afraid to ask”, “The Dinner Party”, “Wrong Bodies”, “Kisss”, and much more. Mat continues to receive commissions to produce and perform new pieces of Live Art all the time, and as with much of his work, for more info on the next show please go to NEWS.
